Assinment 3... Focal point...

 Annie Leibovitz

This photo is by Annie Leibovitz. Shot for Vanity Fair along side an interview with Lady GaGa (Center model). This Photo is a good example for focal point, seen as her face is in the center of the photo, It is also the face that is most lit up. The rule of thirds is used in this picture, shown in below image:

Photographers that use this technique claim that aligning a subject with these points creates more energy and interest in the composition rather than simply centering the subject would make the photo look unatural.

Assignment 3... Composition...

Annie Leibovitz

There are many components in this photo by Annie Leibovitz.
The models are unnaturally placed in the photo, by having Sarah Jessica Parker on the floor teasing the camera. But by placing them in unorthodox positions it draws more attention to them, other than the hotel room around them. The way the room is set up around them makes it look like the image is from a film. What the modles are doing is subtule, but suggestive. Sarah fills a small amount of the image but the eye is instantly drawn to her.

com·po·si·tionNoun

Assigment 2... First analysis

FACTUAL: This image is by Perou. Taken during the TV show "Dirty Sexy Things". He is from Whitstable, a seaside town in Kent, England. He has become increasingly famous though the show he did for E4.

CONTEXT: This photo was taken in episode 6 of "Dirty Sexy Things", the Theme is "The inner animal", he took three models on this shoot (other models at bottom of post), The model in this photo is Ocean.

TECHNICAL: The photo was taken in a vast Forrest, while also using smoke machines to give it a more mysterious feeling leading the eye to the unknown. Large lighting equipment was used along side the smoke, this was to make it look like it was sunrise/sunset with large amounts of soft artificial lighting.

AESTHETIC: What I like most about the photo is the complete natural mood of the photo. Even though the shot has been carefully thought out it feels like Ocean is a nocturnal creature, been caught out by the sun and the cover of night.

Other photos/models from this shoot:

Jesse Burgess.

Jay Camilleri.
